A quick "save-the-date" shoot for Kathleen & Jim. I love these two! Kathleen lives in NYC and keeps me updated on current, hip activities. Now we just need to find the time to do them! One of her suggestions was the chef Wylie Dufresne's
wd-50 restaurant, that I hear the Eggs Benedict app (yes, even at dinner!) is to die for, and also the unusual Dances of Vice event I wish we could attend (maybe next year!)

l a u r a + j o h n • c a i r n w o o dA little late with this blogpost, and I have been ignoring this blog. It doesn't mean we aren't busy however! If anyone's been keeping up with me on Facebook or knows me personally, you'd know there's just a LOT going on! We bought a new studio/house this week, are getting married and soon launching our new site (so this site will be shortly be left behind...awwww....can't wait! You will still be able to view old posts here though.) On top of that, we are still editing weddings, shooting portraits, meeting with perspective clients, AND have tons of amazing albums that we are designing. And lest you think that is not enough, all our marketing/reorganizing that we are trying to squeeze in!. We shall be in the fabulous and fun city of Las Vegas this week for the annual wedding and portrait photographer's expo (WPPI) that we love so much, and very excited to see old friends and make new ones.

So, I just want to say that I ADORE Laura and John and their wedding was BEAUTIFUL! Sweet Laura left me a bottle of our favorite champagne, Veuve Cliquet (okay, I know how to pronounce it, but maybe not spell it!) in our door today in honor of our pending nuptials. Just an awesome gesture!

They organized some gorgeous models, makeup and beautiful dresses-it was brutally cold and I really respect the models for dealing with it, and us!

darn chilly it's getting. I think Rachel and I choose the coldest day so far (well,
with the wind it was the coldest) to schedule her engagement session. Still, I
actually don't mind shooting in the cold, I think all my energy just warms me up!
Rachel and Ryan (and their beautiful boxer) and I, laughed through our frozen faces.

Great light this time of year though!

Oh my gosh, I took this photo of the gorgeous Linette yesterday during her Bridal Couture Session
at a skate park. We got some amazing images which I'll get around to blogging, but I just
had to post this one! Pat saw this photo and shook his head and just said "Punks!" It's really
fabulous though, don't you think!?! Linette had no idea she was being mooned!

Do you think I should photoshop out the telephone pole in the background?

j e s s i c a + r y a n • w e d d i n gI havn't photographed many day weddings, but when Jessica & Ryan came to me the first time and
told me about their intimate fall wedding that started early, I was SO excited! They are an
awesome couple and SO in love and comfortable together that it was easy to photograph them
(Jessica is an very accomplished actress as well, so she just LOVES the camera, yet is so natural.)
We also had the very cool fall light, and the day was just perfect in every way.

This little girl asked me if I could do a photo of her jumping!

They are such jokesters!

C'mon, you think I'd see hulk hands that the kids had and NOT use them

l a u r a + j o h n • e n g a g e m e n tIt was the most perfect afternoon the day of Laura & John's engagement shoot. I ran into an old
friend, Shane, a bartender at the Standard Tap, the weather was great and the light even better,
and Laura & John are so much fun to hang out with! Laura even got us free warm bread from a closed
bakery. So, fall couldn't be better. I couldn't adore my clients more. I am looking forward to their
wedding soon, as I know it will be an intimate and beautiful affair.

a . s e n s e . o f . h i s t o r yWaiting to vote, watching all the election coverage and then listening to Senator McCain's gracious consession speech
and President Elect Obama's victory speech, I had more of a sense of history about this campaign and election than I have since this campaign began. I have had such a busy season, and sometimes I have been so self-absorbed in myself, my work, my personal struggles and successes, that I have been somewhat under a rock this last year. Don't get me wrong, I did have my opinions, my political arguments with friends (generally with wine) and even considered volunteering for my canidate (yeah, then you'd NEVER get your proofs )

I have many times wavered between feeling I was important in the democratic process, that my voice could be heard and my vote counted, and then not feeling connected in any way and feeling powerless in this nation. I know the latter is ultimately not true, and being a small business owner has not only provided me more legitmancy, but I also have a lot more to lose than I ever did. I think that it takes so much to really live up to our ideals. Grassroots is hard, not following the crowd all the time is hard, being a better citizen and neighbor is hard, finding time for it all is hard.

President Elect Obama's challenges ahead are imposing. More than anything, I hope that he can deliver on his promise of uniting this country and that he continues to inspire or encourage people to be responsible for themselves and also involved wholeheartedly in their local & world community.

He has quite a road ahead

was glowing all day. It was great to work with Eventricity again
as the decor was perfect (the huppa made of Swarovski crystals...it was beautiful!)
